1. Course Fee Subsidies

If you are a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident (PR), you can enjoy course fee subsidies on all WSQ courses at Singapore Media Academy. You will only need to pay the nett fee (course fee after SkillsFuture Funding).

To successfully claim for SkillsFuture Funding, trainee must meet the following criteria:
  • Achieve at least 75% course attendance;
  • Take all assessments; and
  • Pass the course

 

2.  SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy

The SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy (MCES) supports and encourages lifelong learning and helps Singaporeans stay responsive to a changing workplace.

Singaporean Citizens aged 40 and above will enjoy higher subsidies of up to 90% of course fees for SSG supported courses with effect from 1 October 2015. Eligible individuals under the Workfare Training Support (WTS) Scheme will continue to receive 95% course fee funding support.

To successfully claim for MCES, trainee must meet the following criteria:

  • Achieve at least 75% course attendance;
  • Take all assessments; and
  • Pass the course

3.  Workfare Training Support Scheme

The Workfare Training Scheme (WTS) encourages Singaporeans to upgrade their skills through training, so that they can improve their employability and upgrade to better jobs. WTS is open to Singaporeans who meet eligible criteria.

Singaporean Citizens aged 35 and above with monthly income of not more than S$2,000 will enjoy higher subsidies of up to 95% of course fees for SSG supported courses.

To successfully claim for WTS, trainee must meet the following criteria:

  • Be employed;
  • Achieve at least 75% course attendance;
  • Take all assessments; and
  • Pass the course

4.  SkillsFuture Credit

All Singaporeans aged 25 and above can use their S$500 SkillsFuture Credit from the government to pay for a wide range of approved skills-related courses. Visit the SkillsFuture Credit website (www.SkillsFuture.sg/credit) to choose from the courses available on the SkillsFuture Credit course directory.

Only self sponsored Singaporean applicants can use this credit and application must be  submitted via SkillsFuture Credit Portal within 60 days from course commencement date.

 

5. Post Secondary Scheme Account (PSEA)

Singaporeans who are pursuing WSQ courses at Singapore Media Academy can use their own or their sibling's PSEA funds to pay for the approved fees.

6. Training Allowance

Training allowance is only available for individuals who pay for their own training. Individuals under the Workfare Training Support Scheme may be eligible for training allowance in addition to course fee subsidies.

Individuals can apply at any WSG Career Centre or e2i Centre up to 30 days (including weekends and public holidays) before or after the start of the course with the following documents:

  • Course Enrolment Letter from the Training Provider; and
  • WTS Notification Letter

7.  Training Commitment Award (TCA)

Eligible individuals will automatically be awarded the Training Commitment Award (TCA) upon achieving any of the following:

  • Two (2) WSQ Statements of Attainment (SOA) within a 12-Month Period
  • One (1) WSQ Qualification
  • One (1) Academic CET Modular Certificate or Post-Diploma Certificate
  • One (1) Academic CET Qualification
  • One (1) Qualification for other Certifiable Courses Supported and Approved by WSG

Individuals will receive S$200 for each achievement, up to S$400 per year. The TCA payment details will be included in the Workfare letter (together with information on the Workfare Income Supplement [WIS]).

8. SkillsFuture Qualification Award

Formerly known as the CET Qualification Award (CQA), this award encourages Singaporeans to attain WSQ full qualifications, which equip them with comprehensive and robust sets of skills to perform their jobs competently, pursue career progression and explore new job opportunities.

Singaporean who attain a WSQ Diploma, WSQ Specialist Diploma, WSQ Graduate Certificate or WSQ Graduate Diploma will be eligible for a cash award of S$1,000.

Those who attain a WSQ Certificate, WSQ Higher Certificate or WSQ Advanced Certificate are eligible for a cash award of S$200.

Eligibility for the award is based on the date of attainment of the WSQ full qualification.
