B. Mark Seabrooks

A native of Louisville Kentucky, B. Mark Seabrooks began his career in the arts studying playwriting at The Walden Theatre under the tutelage of Nancy Niles Sexton.  After graduating from Saint Frances DeSales High School, Mr. Seabrooks attended Howard University where he received his BFA with a concentration in acting.  He received his AEA card while a cast member of the equity house Stage One: Louisville Children’s Theatre.  It was at Stage One that, before falling victim to chickenpox, he was luminescent as Wilbur the Pig.

In the fall of 1990, B. Mark arrived in Hollywood the recipient of the Paramount Pictures/Eddie Murphy Screenwriting Fellowship Award.  From 1990 to 1991 he worked with Eddie Murphy and his production team honing his skills as a screenwriter from a Hollywood studio perspective.  While at Paramount B. Mark was tutored in the craft of pitching by Hollywood veterans Larry Y. Albucher, Don Granger, and Kevin Jones.  He also had the privilege of spending two months working along side the writing staff of Star Trek: The Next Generation with sci-fi icons Michael Piller, Ronald D. Moore, and the legendary Gene Roddenberry.

Immediately following The Paramount Fellowship, B. Mark landed his first job as a staff writer for the critically acclaimed CBS sitcom The Royal Family.  The Royal Family proved to be a double blessing: it not only provided B. Mark with an entry into the world of sitcoms but it also gave him the opportunity to work with his childhood hero Redd Foxx.  Following The Royal Family, B. Mark had a long and successful run in the half hour world.  He was a staff writer on the NBC comedy Out All Night and the ground breaking Fox Network sketch comedy series In Living Color.  He became a co-producer on the, TGIF staple Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper, and became the co-executive producer on the first hit sitcom for the WB Network The Steve Harvey Show.

B. Mark wrote, direct, and produced the award winning short feature VEIL.  He then created and developed the situation comedy pilot, My Hero, for Fox Studios.  He created the pilot The WuShu Kid, and the subsequent Disney Channel Movie, Brenda Wu: Homecoming Warrior.  He also wrote the cutting edge pilot, Standup Guy for HBO.  B. Mark was a supervising producer on the UPN series Second Time Around starring Nicole Ari Parker and Boris Kojo.  He served as supervising producer of the UPN series “CUTS” starring Shannon Elizabeth and Marques Houston and.  He has written sketch comedy for Nick Cannon and Mike Epps.  B. Mark is currently developing a talk show, an hour drama, and two feature scripts.
