MASTERCLASS: Mastering Reality



This 5-day masterclass is geared to teach the creators and producers of reality television how to identify, create, develop, pitch, and sell reality television shows. It not only underscores the elements needed to prepare a project for selling but also highlights those needed to get a show on the air and succeed as a long-running hit.

Participants will be exposed to the secrets of every element of a great reality show, culling from the case studies and anecdotes from the trainer’s experience in making over 500 hours of television and delivering a dozen hits shows.

The course will allow those who have never created unscripted fare before to learn how to adapt and diversify their talents and creations into a genre that has swept across the globe. Ultimately each participant will emerge with the expertise and materials to pitch a show.

Trainer Profile

Alex Demyanenko has the unique experience of being a successful television and film producer, network developer and buyer, and online producer and programmer. In the last two decades, Demyanenko has created, developed, and produced numerous hit series and specials totaling over 500 hours of television.  Among the over 40 shows he has created, developed and/or sold and produced in his career are Fox’s "Joe Millionaire", "My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiancé" and "Trading Spouses", Vh1’s “Basketball Wives”, USA’s “Tough Enough", and ABC’s “The 70s: The Decade That Changed Television”. As VP of Development at Vh1, he helped lead the net-work to the most successful period in its history, developing 25 series from creation to air in 4 years, including hit shows such as "Celeb Rehab", "Tough Love", and "The T.O. Show". He got his start in the industry by producing the acclaimed HBO doc “Bastards of the Party” and is a graduate of UCLA.
