MASTERCLASS: Showrunner Training

Overview

This 5-day intensive Masterclass is designed to introduce writers and producers the creative and practical skills to become a professional showrunner on an international stage.

What is a showrunner? Showrunners are high-level writer-producers who oversee every aspect of a show’s development and production. They supervise the writers, designers, casting departments and directors of photography. They shepherd shows from conception and writing through principal photography and post. Showrunners are the sole “captain of the ship”, they are responsible for every creative and practical decision affecting the show.

A showrunner system, which is lacking in Singapore, not only puts visionary writer/producers at the helm of each series, it creates an apprenticeship system that educates younger writer-producers.

Through this programme, participants will be inspired and introduced to the fundamentals of showrunners, the importance of a showrunner system and how to apply it in their work.

The skills that participants will acquire from this Masterclass:

  • TV Storytelling
  • How to Manage a Writers Room
  • Understanding the whole production flow
  • Basics of Principal Photography & On-set Production

Who Should Attend

This highly intensive Masterclass is optimal for Media Professionals with at least 1 year of experience in the media industry who want to explore the area of showrunner in a media production.
