MASTERCLASS: From Script to Screen - How to Make a Movie

 

Overview

This 3-day masterclass explains the complete end to end process involved when shooting a film or major documentary including writing a script, preparing a story board, the pre-production recce and assembling a crew.

Participants will learn about lighting and the types of lights encountered on a film set and guidance on how to use them. The differences between hard and soft lights, tungsten, LED and fluorescent.

It also covers some basic film and video composition techniques such as the technical aspects of modern digital film production which include camera and lens choice, whether to shoot with log or raw, 4K or High Dynamic Range. There will be guidance on special effects filming with a comprehensive green screen session where the students will learn how to shoot both the foreground and background elements of a special effects shot.

At the end of the masterclass, the participants will bring everything learned together in post production.

Trainer Profile

Bruce Logan is most famous as "The man who blew up the death star". Bruce was the cinematographer responsible for the effects photography in the first of the Star Wars films. He was also a cinematographer on "Tron", "2001 A Space Odyssey", "Airplane", "Batman Forever" and many more. Besides being a highly accomplished cinematographer, Bruce now works as a scriptwriter, editor and colorist as well as being a film production consultant. He is based out of Los Angeles. He has been providing training and workshops for the last 5 years and is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC).
