Overview

A good director knows that having a multi-camera shoot requires a lot of preparation and planning. Having multiple, synchronised angles makes the post-production editing much easier. Choosing the right workflow and setting up properly will ensure that you are ready to roll when filming begins.

This unit covers the process of directing a dramatic multi-camera production as it is being shot, providing guidance, leadership and direction on the overall concept, theme, content, characters, narrative and visual style.

 

Learning Outcome

  • Direct multi-camera and camera personnel, through the use of a shot plan, supervised camera placement and lens required to meet the needs of the production
  • Direct performers through guidance, feedback and cues to meet the artistic vision of the production
  • Direct key creative personnel through guidance, leadership, and feedback to meet the needs of the production
  • Direct crew through collaboration and assessment of their work to ensure smooth operation of the production
  • Participate in the post production process by instructing the Editor and Sound Producers and weaving pieces of the film together to create a final product
